According to the report, Samsung Display unit, which is the sole supplier of OLED panels to Apple for the flagship iPhone has promised to ready at least 3-4 million OLED-panels, far less than the ordered 70 million, for the device before its launch event slated for September. Analysts had earlier predicted that the iPhone 8 would be available in limited quantities after the September launch as it is difficult to produce OLED-panels in larger numbers. “Judging from the current supply of OLED panels, it will be difficult for Apple to ship up to 50-60 million OLED-based new iPhones in 2017, a person familiar with the matter told DigiTimes. Fastest train of this era is here

Image
The railways were developed in the course of finding better ways of transport than wagons on mud roads. Hard-wearing steel rails formed the “permanent way” for a train of wagons to move goods and passengers with speed and over long distances. Those rails are now welded, without a break for kilometres on end, wagon axels have roller bearings and speeds reach over 300 km an hour. Going faster, however, is challenging, because of friction at the wheel and the resistance of the air, both of which grow enormously at high speeds. A team at the Technology University at Delft, in the Netherlands, is trying out a new concept that overcomes these hurdles, to connect cities at the speed of sound. The new concept, first formally stated by Elon Musk, inventor, entrepreneur and founder of Tesla, the electric car company, uses two devices to reduce resistance. One is air pressure or magnetic levitation to sidestep the rail-wheel resistance. The other is to drive the vehicle through a tube in a ne

Massive ransomware attack targets multinational companies worldwide, India maybe at risk

Image
Several multinational companies said on Tuesday they were targeted in a massive wave of cyberattacks which started in Russia and Ukraine before spreading to western Europe. Danish sea transport company Maersk, British advertising giant WPP and the French industrial group Saint-Gobain were among those who said they came under attack and put protection protocols in place to avoid data loss. The first reports of trouble came from Ukrainian banks, Kiev's main airport and Russia's Rosneft oil giant, in a major incident reminiscent of the recent WannaCry virus. IT experts identified the virus as "Petrwrap", a modified version of the Petya ransomware which hit last year and demanded money from victims in exchange for the return of their data. It also recalled a ransomware outbreak last month which hit more than 150 countries and a total of more than 200,000 victims with the WannaCry ransomware. The virus is "spreading around the world, a large number of countries

E-Cigarettes have say BYE BYE to traditional cigarattes

Image
Since medical science started to reveal the damaging side-effects of smoking, those who wanted to give up have sought out alternatives, from attempting to improve will-power through hypnotherapy to using nicotine substitutes such as patches and gums. As technology has improved and its applications have become more widespread, the advent of the e-cigarette was almost inevitable in the quest to provide a practical and enjoyable alternative to smoking. With more and more focus on the dangers of smoking and a wealth of initiatives designed to help smokers to cut down and quit their habit, as described here the use of e-cigarettes has become more and more widespread. Smokers who have taken up ‘vaping’ often find that their addiction to traditional cigarettes is much easier to kick with the help of such an effective alternative. By providing a substitute for the physical action of smoking as well as providing a replacement for the nicotine addiction, e-cigarettes provide a uniquely effe

Smartphone battery will last for 90 days on 1 charge

With every passing day, the smartphones are getting smarter. That’s the good news. Now, the bad news. As the smartphones get smarter, our irritation mounts as they eat up tons of power and require frequent charging. But, this irritating aspect may soon be history, we wil tell you why. You may not believe it, but the fact is soon you may have to charge your smartphones once in few months, three months to be precise. This, thanks to researchers at the University of Michigan and Cornell. They have developed a magic material termed "magnetoelectric multiferroic," This material allows computers and smartphones to work on few short pulses of electricity in quick time, rather than continuous electricity supply over a period of time. In practical terms this means that the computers and smartphones will need 100 times less energy to work, and will function for a very, very long period before they need a recharge. With this material, a smartphone battery is expected to work for 90

Amazon will begin taking pre-orders today for five new Prime Exclusive phones from the likes of Nokia, Motorola, and Alcatel. As usual, Amazon's Prime Exclusive Offers on the lockscreen bring down the cost of the handsets considerably, making them a tempting buy if you're already a Prime subscriber. It's also a good-looking phone - definitely hardware that says "premium" in a way most phones in this segment don't. Amazon is knocking a full $50 off Nokia's suggested retail price, charging $179 for the Prime Exclusive version, making this Amazon-ified 6 an extremely good value proposition. Next u

Xiaomi Mi 6 Review

Image
Flagship for Less If you want top-end hardware in the cheapest possible smartphone, you should look no further than Xiaomi’s Mi line. Last year’s Mi 5 packed all the best hardware, including top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs and high quality cameras, in a sub-$400 package, undercutting pretty much every device on the market, including the OnePlus 3. In 2017, Xiaomi has updated their flagship product line with the Mi 6, and the story remains largely the same. You’ll be getting top-end hardware – including a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a dual 12-megapixel camera solution – in a package that costs  around $430 when imported. With phones like the Galaxy S8 costing over $700, and the LG G6 setting you back $550 for largely last-generation hardware, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is an absolute bargain at this price point. The only downside to purchasing the Xiaomi Mi 6 is, as with all Xiaomi devices, its lack of availability in Western markets. That didn’t stop us from o
