InFocus to launch a phone for Rs 6999 in July

Yesterday, InFocus had launched Turbo 5 at an event in Delhi. It comes in two variants - 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM priced at Rs 6,999 and Rs 7,999 respectively.

American smartphone brand InFocus, which is licensed to Foxconn, on Wednesday re-entered the Indian market after failing to make an impact in the last two years. The company plans to launch around eight feature phones in the price range of Rs 699 to Rs 1099 starting July.

Piyush Puri, vice president, sales and marketing, InFocus said to The Mobile Indian, “ We will be launching eight features phones in India, and cheapest one will be for Rs 699, and it will be available in 15,000 retailers pan India.”
He further added, “We will be coming out with feature phones in three different screen sizes 1.8 inches, 2.4 inches and 2.8 inches. The entry level features phones will not support 4G but the top end ones will support it.”

InFocus expects to sell 6 million phones in 2017 in India and claims till date it has sold around 2 million smartphones in the country. It plans to invest $10 million (about Rs 65 crore) in its second innings to make a comeback in the Indian market.

As far as specifications are concerned, InFocus Turbo 5 offers a unibody metal design and a 5.2-inch (1280 x 720) HD IPS display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor with Mali T720 GPU, along with 2GB/3GB of RAM. The hybrid dual SIM based smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The device is backed up by a 5000 mAh battery which claims to offer up to 23 hours of talk time and up to 816 hours of standby time along with support to charge other phones using OTG. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor located on the back of the device.

The InFocus Turbo 5 comes with 16GB/32GB of internal storage, and expandable storage up to 32GB via micro SD card. The smartphone has a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash. For selfies, the smartphone offers a 5-megapixel front camera. For connectivity, the device offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/ AGPS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, FM radio, microUSB 2.0, Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, E-Compass, and Proximity sensor. The device measures 150 x 74 x 9.0 and weighs 163 grammes.
