This Rs 200 note is coming for FIRST time
There is good news for you. To ease your change problem and make transactions easy the Reserve Bank of India has started printing Rs 200 notes. This is being seeing as the last phase of re-monetisation process after the demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes in November 2016.
The RBI, reports The Times of India, had placed the order for Rs 200 notes few weeks ago with one of the government owned currency printing press. However, RBI has not responded to a query in this regard.
Before note ban, reports suggest that there were 1,650 crore Rs 500 notes in circulation, the government tried to fill in the gap with new Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes. However, the gap could not be filled. As ofJune 9, total currency circulation is pegged at Rs 14.6 lakh crore, which is 18.4% less than the pre-note ban level.
The Rs 200-notes are expected to fill in this gap.
