Moto X4: The first non-Google device to receive Project Fi

The smartphone is expected to arrive later this year.

Search-giant Google on 29th June, Thursday made an announcement, stating that a non-Google, Project-Fi compatible mid-budget device is scheduled to launch soon. Soon aftet VentureBeat published a report, claiming that the device-in-question is Motorola’s upcoming Moto X4 smartphone. If this turns out to be true then the Moto X4 smartphone will be the first non-Google smartphone to receive Google’s Project-Fi.

Google’s Project-Fi essentially depends on other mobile virtual network operators (instead of itself) including T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular to deliver maximum signal availability to its users. What makes things better is Project-Fi’s pricing structure. It’s extremely affordable in comparison to other packs. Starting at a base price of $20 per line (plus $10 for gig of data), users can avail higher network speeds without spending a lot. The unused data is credited back to the customer’s account.

The VentureBeat report suggested that sources close to the matter claimed that the upcoming Moto X4 smartphone is scheduled to launch in Q4, 2017. Nothing else is known about the device-in-question as yet.
