OnePlus 5 update brings Wi-Fi connectivity bug fix and more
NEW DELHI: OnePlus 5, the newest flagship smartphone by the Chinese technology company, has received an OS update that brings improvements to different functionalities. The update pushes the handset's OxygenOS version from 4.5.2 to 4.5.5 and weighs around 60MB.
The update further improves Wi-Fi connectivity and voice calling, reduces battery consumption while recording videos, and includes gently-tuned vibration intensity when receiving calls.
Furthermore, OxygenOS 4.5.5 fixes some bugs related to Wi-Fi, IPv6 network settings and more. It fixes the bug wherein Wi-Fi signal was consistently displayed as weak. It also fixes the issue where certain apps were not able to work under IPv6 network settings.
Since the OTA update is incremental, it might take some time to reach all OnePlus 5 users across the globe.
OnePlus executives recently revealed that future OnePlus 5 update will bring EIS or Electronic Image Stabilisation feature for 4K video recording. The company said this during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session.
For those unaware, this is the smartphone's third OS update after versions 4.5.1 and 4.5.2. The smartphone was originally launched with OxygenOS 4.5.
Few days ago, OnePlus rolled out an update for its OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones that brings several optimizations and an enhanced app launcher. The update comes in the form of OxygenOS Open Beta 19 for the OnePlus 3, and OxygenOS Open Beta 10 for OnePlus 3T.
OnePlus 5 is already up for grabs in India from Amazon. It comes in two variants based on RAM and internal storage. The 6GB RAM/64GB storage version costs Rs 32,999, while the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant has a price of Rs 37,999.
Amazon India also has some special offers on both versions of the smartphone.
