Samsung Galaxy On Max smartphone with 5.7-inch Full HD display, 4GB RAM launched at Rs 16,900

Expanding its budget smartphone line-up in India even further, Samsung has just launched a new handset in the country. Dubbed Galaxy On Max, the smartphone bears a price tag of Rs 16,900 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart, starting July 10. The company is also offering a discount of Rs 2,000 to holders of Standard Chartered debit and credit cards. Two colour options have been introduced - Gold and Black.

Samsung had been teasing Galaxy On Max on its social channels for the past few days, putting special emphasis on the low-light shooting capabilities of the smartphone's camera. Now that the smartphone is out, Samsung is billing its 13MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture (and of course, LED flash) as a 'flagship camera'. A 13MP front-facing snapper with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash is also there, complete with a 'Social Camera Mode' that includes live filters, instant sharing and editing of selfies, and live stickers.

As far as other major specifications are concerned, Samsung Galaxy On Max is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The dual-SIM handset supports microSD cards for storage expansion as well.

Gracing the front panel of the On Max is a 5.7-inch Full HD display. Below it is a physical Home button (with an integrated fingerprint scanner), flanked by capacitive Back and Recent keys.

Sporting a metallic unibody construction, the Galaxy On Max offers all modern connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB. Backing up the entire package is a decent 3,300mAh battery. It's worth mentioning that the smartphone includes Samsung Pay Mini support, complete with UPI integration for effortless digital payments. It also supports dual-WhatsApp accounts.

Earlier today, Samsung Electronics Co. said that its second quarter profit had touched the highest point in history, fueled by a surge in the semiconductor sales. It helped the chaebol overcome slow sales in the smartphone segment.
